Born in New York City to European parents, Dorothea Bozicolona-Volpe has lived in 8 different countries, speaks four languages, and is proud of her diverse cultural background.
Her ability to quickly learn, understand, and “fit in” socially has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of her professional persona, so it should be no surprise that she refers to herself as both a “Citizen of the World” and a “Cultural Chameleon.”
Struck with a personal loss, in 1999 Dorothea retreated, both emotionally and intellectually, into online digital gaming and the virtual world. “It was then,” says Dorothea, “that I first saw conversations happening online, real conversations about where people were sending their kids to school, whether or not they were going to a specific church, about buying an automobile, or refinancing their homes.”
Being a part of these very real online communities brought Dorothea to an epiphany. “I thought to myself,” she recalls, “if brands were smart, they’d be getting involved in these conversations that are happening within these communities.”
Today, Dorothea specializes in the development of international brands as well as personal branding for C-suite executives, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and media professionals via social media and digital marketing. As a social media and interactive marketing strategist, and a thought leader in her field, Dorothea is regularly engaged by groups like Altamont (Social Media Intelligence Summit 2012), Mashable, iStrategy and Digital Atlanta, has appeared as a subject matter expert on CNN Newsroom with Ali Velshi, and serves a long list of notable clients.
